Building Internal Capability - A PBI Pillar

about this project
Over the past five years, PBI has trained and supported more than 500 people globally across multiple industries, combining accredited qualifications, tailored training, and hands-on coaching.
Internal capability is about more than running courses – it’s about giving leaders and teams the skills and confidence to embed improvement into their daily work. For some organisations, that means formal qualifications through PBI’s SQA-accredited Business Transformation (SCQF Level 9) and Lean Practitioner (SCQF Level 7) programmes. For others, it means creating a customised Agile Academy, designing and delivering bespoke courses, or coaching internal champions to build communities of practice.
Whatever the approach, the goal is the same: to create a workforce that not only understands Lean and Agile but knows how to apply it, sustain it, and scale it.

Extended Story
Internal capability is what sustains transformation long after external support has stepped back. At Lightsource BP, PBI helped create a global Agile Academy, combining digital learning modules, a 90-minute awareness course, and community forums, giving more than 1,200 employees the tools to challenge old ways of working and embrace agility.
In parallel, tailored Business Agility courses provided regional, facilitator-led sessions that built deeper knowledge and practical application. These programmes sat alongside PBI’s accredited courses, giving organisations choice and flexibility – some opted for formal qualifications, others for custom content – but all were united by the same outcome: stronger, more confident teams driving measurable improvements.
By combining formal training with hands-on facilitation, PBI ensures that internal capability is not a one-size-fits-all offering. Instead, it is a flexible approach that adapts to client needs, industry context, and long-term goals, making capability building a core part of transformation.
