about this project
PBI has provided long-term Lean & Agile support to the BP division in the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey (AGT) Region.
One of the focus areas was to tackle problems in the overall management of Pressure Safety Valves (PSV’s) in AGT region. Lack of adequate process control had resulted in increased inventory, deferrals due to late material delivery and repeated cancelled demand of PSV orders.
Main project objectives:
- Develop a robust PSV Management Process to ensure efficient planning, scheduling and execution of PSV maintenance, inclusive of procurement and supply.
- Ensure that all purchase of PSV's is aligned to demand identified through the planning process
- Establish adequate control of warehouse inventory ensuring all required materials in support of PSV maintenance are clearly identified and available as per demand profile

Benefits Delivered
- Re-use of old valves in warehouse awaiting inspection - 229 PSVs in inventory were inspected and classified as repairable and returned to stock - avoiding new buying valves - cost $1.2m
- Inventory Reduction through implementing stocking strategy – it is estimated that in next year this figure will be reduced by 30%, thus avoiding purchasing $2.055m of material
- Expected 50% reduction in repeat planning of PSV WOs due to deferrals & RPLANs for materials issues
